Manchester United youngster Ben Pearson has expressed his optimism about benefiting from manager Louis van Gaal's philosophy of promoting young players.

The club's Young Player of the Year 2013 has been in impressive form for the Red Devils Under-21 team and was an integral part of Warren Joyce's side that won 4-1 against Manchester City Under-21s in the Manchester Senior Cup final last month.

And now with Van Gaal having taken charge of the Old Trafford-based outfit, Pearson hopes that his performances will bear fruit, with the Dutchman handing him his senior debut for Manchester United.

Young players such as Tyler Blackett and Reece James have been involved in the Dutchman's squad this year and the 19-year-old believes that there is absolutely no reason why he cannot do the same.

"The manager has played a few youngsters already", Pearson told his club's official site.

"Tyler has been playing regularly and Reece James has played. A few of the lads were involved against MK Dons and, hopefully, all of us can come through.

"The manager has done it previously at Ajax and Barcelona and I hope he can do it here. There are a few young lads pushing for first-team places.

"It is all about getting an opportunity. There are always lads going up and training with the first team. You've just got to impress in those training sessions."
