Former Manchester United first team coach Phil Neville believes that if Luis Suarez had been playing for the Red Devils instead of Liverpool last season then David Moyes would have presided over a title-winning team.

Suarez powered a Liverpool title tilt last term, with the Reds only narrowly missing out on scooping their first top flight crown since 1990, being pipped at the post by Manchester City.

Neville meanwhile had a ringside seat as Manchester United collapsed from champions to seventh place under Moyes, with the manager and several members of his coaching staff paying with their jobs.

However, had Suarez been at Moyes' disposal at Old Trafford, the story could have been very different, Neville believes.

"You put Suarez in a Man United team last year with David Moyes in charge and they could have won the league", the former Red Devils first team coach told BBC Radio 5 live.

And Neville pointed to the prolific goalscoring form of Suarez and his partner at Liverpool Daniel Sturridge, with over 100 notched by Brendan Rodgers' men over the course of the campaign.

"You're talking about someone who scored goals, 50 goals between Suarez and Sturridge. That's title winning nearly", he added.

By contrast Manchester United scored 64 goals in their 38 Premier League games last season under Moyes, missing out on any form of European football for this season with a seventh place finish.
