Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that his team need to be more aggressive on the pitch in order to compete at the highest level.

The Lilywhites suffered their second loss in three league games as they were humbled 1-0 by West Bromwich Albion at home on Sunday.




As a result of the defeat Pochettino's team have dropped to ninth place in the table with seven points from five matches.

 


The former Southampton manager is critical about the performance of his team as a whole, insisting that the players need to be stronger in order to compete at the highest level.

"We need to be more prepared and more ready because the Premier League is strong and the Europa League is strong", the 42-year-old was quoted as saying by ITV

"We need to change the mentality and make sure we are ready every time.

"You go to the stadium and you have to be able to compete and be strong because every game is different."

Reflecting on Sunday's loss, Pochettino added that his team suffered because they were always late to the "second ball".

"West Brom played long balls and tried to win the second ball.

"We had a problem because we were always late to the second ball – we took a lot of time to get into the opposition's box.

"We need to be more aggressive in the last third of the pitch."
