Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola believes too much is being asked of players at present and playing games every three weeks is too much if a team intend to field the same set of stars.

Guardiola's reigning Bundesliga champions have had a slow start to the season, winning two and drawing two of their four league games so far.

They also needed a last minute deflected shot to beat Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena.

And Guardiola feels players are being driven too hard across the Bundesliga clubs involved in European competition, which means games every three days.

"We're breaking the players. We're asking too much of the players. They need time to rest", he told reporters.

"That doesn't just apply to Bayern, but to Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen too.

"It is impossible to play every three days and field the same set of players."

The Bayern Munich coach is not concerned about his side's mixed start in the Bundesliga however, believing that the situation will soon become clearer once more games are played; Bayern Munich are in action tonight against surprise table toppers Paderborn.

"The position is not important yet. We must focus first on our own results and performances, and not those of others."
