Former Liverpool striker Milan Baros has joined Czech club Banik Ostrava on a free transfer until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Baros is a product of Ostrava’s youth academy and left the club in 2002 to join Liverpool for £3.2m.

He went on to become a Champions League winner with the Reds before eventually leaving the club for Aston Villa in 2005. He has also played for the likes of Lyon, Portsmouth and Galatasaray in Europe, while his last club was Turkish side Antalyaspor.

Baros earned 92 caps for the Czech Republic and his tally of 41 international goals for his country is second only to strike partner Jan Koller, who holds the record with 55.

Baros was also the Golden Boot winner at Euro 2004 with five goals as the Czech Republic made it to the semi-finals of the tournament.

The 32-year-old returns to Ostrava for his third spell at the club. In his first two spells he scored 28 goals in 88 appearances for the club.

"The boys started the season well, and I want to help them to progress further. Furthermore, I believe that I will complete my dream, to play in front of a sold-out Bazaly. After all, it's the last season”, Baros told the club’s official site, referring to an impending stadium move.
