Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze believes that the three points against Paderborn last night were important for his team.

The defending champions replaced their opponents from yesterday at the top of the Bundesliga table as they beat Andre Breitenreiter's side 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Having only managed a draw in their last league match against Hamburg, the win was particularly important according to the 22-year-old, as it helped to affirm their grip on the league early in the season.

And now the Germany international hopes that his team can continue with the same quality for the forthcoming matches this season.

"The three points are important, especially here at home. I think we played pretty well, so all credit to the team.

"The early opening goal was important. We have lots of quality and we’re looking forward to our forthcoming matches."

The Bavarians visit the RheinEnergieStadion next this weekend to face 1.FC Koln in the league.
