Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he would consider playing Calum Chambers in midfield, following the versatile defender’s energetic display in his side’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The 19-year-old played as a right-back against Spurs and was seen making darting runs throughout the course of the north London derby at the Emirates Stadium.

And Wenger, who has been impressed with Chambers’ displays in defence, wants to play the youngster in midfield due to his stamina.

However, the Frenchman was quick to add that he will not be making that move in his side’s upcoming Champions League clash against Galatasaray on Wednesday, as the Gunners’ currently have just four defenders at their disposal.

“He has been remarkable in every position”, Wenger explained to his club’s official site.

“He has an unbelievable engine. He goes and goes. It’s not often that you see that quality.

“I’d consider playing him in midfield but I don’t know about Wednesday [against Galatasaray] because I only have four defenders at the moment.”

Chambers, who joined Arsenal from their Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer, has thus far made 10 appearances in all competitions for his new employers.
