Manchester City midfielder James Milner admits his side did not do enough to beat Roma in their Champions League clash this evening, after recording a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Having lost their opening group stage game to Bayern Munich, while Roma beat CSKA Moscow, the Citizens were in need of three points.

And they duly took the lead after just five minutes when Sergio Aguero converted a penalty for the hosts.

But Roma were not behind for long and captain Francesco Totti scored his first goal on English soil to level up the clash in the 23rd minute.

No further goals followed, meaning the spoils were shared; an outcome less than ideal for Manchester City, who saw Bayern Munich beat CSKA Moscow in the group's other game.

"We didn't play at our best but we had a fair few chances and could have nicked it", Milner told the BBC.

"We never played at our tempo which teams find hard to deal with.

"They are well organised and we didn't do enough", the Manchester City star added.
