Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels admits he was happy to hear of interest from Manchester United in the summer, but stressed he is not about to seek a move for purely monetary gain.

Hummels was strongly linked with Louis van Gaal's men throughout the summer and remains a potential transfer target for the Red Devils when the window swings back open again in January.

And the Germany international is flattered to have attracted interest from the Old Trafford outfit.

"It's nice to hear that such big clubs are interested in you. I see that as a compliment, but it has no influence on me", Hummels explained to the Bundesliga Magazine.

"We earn enough here at Dortmund.

"If I ever want to play abroad, then money is not the reason for it, but I don't think about it at the moment."
