Frank Lampard has conceded that his performances will dictate his future at Manchester City.

The former Chelsea midfielder joined the English champions on a short loan until the end of this year from MLS side New York City FC.

Chelsea’s record goalscorer has become a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium after notching up four goals in six appearances for the club and there is talk that Manchester City might want to extend the loan deal.

However, Lampard is refusing to get ahead of himself and is only focused on doing his job at the club before making any decision on his future.

"The temptation is to not get ahead of myself in my career”, the midfielder was quoted as saying by ITV.

“I am here until January 1st, basically, so I will focus on that and see what happens then.”

The 36-year-old said that his future at the club will depend on how well he performs over the course of the next few months and not on when the MLS season starts.

"There has been a lot said about when the season starts, but the only thing that can decide my future is how well I am playing. They will be kicking me out in January if I don't play very well!

"I am just looking game to game and trying to play as well as I can."

Lampard has scored 172 Premier League goals from midfield for three different clubs.
