Former Bayern Munich and Everton forward Landon Donovan will make his last appearance in US colours later today.

The US will take on Ecuador in a friendly in Boston and the most iconic figure of the country’s football will make his final appearance for the national team.

USA’s German head coach Jurgen Klinsmann dropped the 32-year-old from this summer’s World Cup squad and his team performed admirably to make it through to the last 16 from a group consisting of Germany, Ghana and Portugal.

However, the German has confirmed that Donovan will make his final appearance for the national team today against Ecuador and will wear the captain’s armband.

“He’ll wear the captain’s armband”, Klinsmann was quoted as saying by FIFA.
