Norway sensation Martin Odegaard admits he was gripped by nerves when he was brought off the bench against Bulgaria yesterday.

The midfielder made history in the process by becoming the youngest player to ever play in a European Championship qualifying game.

Odegaard, who has been linked with a whole host of Europe's elite, admits it was not smooth sailing however, despite him helping Norway to a 2-1 win.

"I was a bag of nerves when I came on, but with the welcome I got from the crowd I just had to smile and get on with it", he told Norwegian daily Verdens Gang.

"I think it went well and we came away with three points – that's the most important thing", Odegaard added.
