Lionel Messi's father and agent Jorge Messi has revealed that there is no absolute certainty about his son's ending his career at the Camp Nou with Barcelona.

Having joined the Catalan giants as a youngster, Messi has moved through the ranks to become one of the club's most prized possession.

The 27-year-old earlier this year talked about his desire to remain with the club as long as possible and eventually signed a new contract with the Spanish giants in May.

But Messi's father insists that situations can change drastically and there is no certainty about what "twists and turns" life can take any moment.

"He loves Barca, but life takes lots of twists", Jorge Messi told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope.

"You just never know.

"He loves Rosario [in Argentina]; he built a house there.

"What do I know? Life takes lots of twists and turns."

Messi is close to reaching former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra's La Liga record for the highest number of goals, having managed 249 until now, just two behind Zarra.
