Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has paid tribute to young defender Hector Bellerin for his performance against Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.

Welbeck struck in injury time for the Gunners to ensure they held Hull to a 2-2 draw and took a point from the Premier League fixture.

Bellerin made his first Premier League appearance for Arsenal in the match, slotting into the right-back position and turning in a highly competent display.

And amid the disappointment of the draw, Welbeck was happy with what he saw from the 19-year-old.

"I thought Hector Bellerin was brilliant today", Welbeck told his club's site.

"He's really quick and once he got going it was difficult for Hull to stop him.

"He made a few defensive challenges that got the ball back for us as well", the striker concluded.
