Brendan Rodgers admits that Liverpool did not deserve to beat QPR at Loftus Road today, after coming through a bizarre contest to win 3-2.

Liverpool took the lead when Richard Dunne prodded the ball into his own net in the 67th minute and looked set to grab all three points as the clock ticked down.

But substitute Eduardo Vargas levelled for the hosts in the 87th minute, before Philippe Coutinho grabbed a 90th minute goal to put the Reds 2-1 up.

Vargas came back again, striking in injury time, before another own goal, this time from QPR's Steven Caulker, ensured a 3-2 win for Liverpool.

And Rodgers, whose side struggled throughout, failing to get a passing game going, looking vulnerable from set-pieces and with Mario Balotelli missing two good chances, admits QPR are unfortunate to lose.

"They certainly didn't deserve to lose, QPR, I thought we were very lucky to get the win", he told Sky Sports.

"We showed tremendous character and we were a little bit better in the second half, but QPR definitely deserved to get something from the game.

"We had more chances [in the second half]. In the first half we didn't have any rhythm in our game, it was too slow, there was no speed in the game.

"Joe Allen and Coutinho coming on gave us a technical lift in the game and we started to create a bit more.

"Raheem Sterling was outstanding with his running.

"But everyone knows it's a long season and you're not going to play well at times. But it's a long season and you need to get points, and we got them today."
