Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers believes that his team need to know to stop Cristiano Ronaldo when they meet Real Madrid this week, but can't focus only on the Portuguese as there are many other top players to be taken care of.

The Reds host the defending champions in a Champions League Group B encounter on Wednesday, with Ronaldo expected to be the centre of attention throughout the course of the match.

However, the 41-year-old manager insists that with players like Toni Kroos and Luka Modric also expected to feature for Los Blancos during the match, it would be "foolish" to focus only on the former Manchester United star.

"He's a player off the charts. His evolution in recent years, the way how he has become a goalscorer has been amazing", Rodgers told AS.

"We need to know to stop him but there is danger in other parts of the field.

"You have Modric, Kroos – wonderful technicians who can play short, long."

Rodgers also took time to talk about Sergio Ramos, who remains an injury doubt for the match, revealing that he has been an admirer of the Spanish international since his days at Sevilla.

"I'm also a big admirer of Sergio Ramos since his young days at Sevilla where he came through the system before making a move and then making it to over 100 caps for Spain."
