Chelsea hitman Didier Drogba admits that Eden Hazard let him take a penalty for the Blues this evening in a 6-0 Champions League rout of Maribor, with the Ivorian scoring the first goal of his second spell at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea went to town on Maribor, opening the scoring after just 13 minutes through French striker Loic Remy.

The Blues then doubled their lead when Drogba slotted the ball home from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute, before John Terry ensured the hosts would go in at the break 3-0 ahead when he scored just after the half hour mark.

An own goal in the 54th minute gave Chelsea their fourth, while Maribor's woes continued with a missed penalty ten minutes later.

Eden Hazard then showed the Slovenians how it is done by scoring from the spot in the 77th minute, before a classy run and finish made it 6-0 to the hosts.

And Drogba revealed that Hazard allowed him to take the penalty in the first half, something he feels was perfect.

"To finish with a penalty [in 2012 in the Champions League final] and to start again with another penalty is kind of [symmetry]. I'm really happy because of the way we played today", he told ITV.

"We scored one, two goals, but we didn't stop and that's the result.

"I [wanted to take the penalty] to be honest, I wanted to score that goal.

"I asked him [Hazard] and he said 'yeah, no problem'.

"That is the spirit we have in this team. We help each other and we're happy when everybody is scoring and it's good for my confidence!"
