Real Madrid have confirmed that Gareth Bale will not play any part in their Champions League clash against Liverpool tomorrow.

It emerged yesterday that the Welshman is doubtful for the clash at Anfield and for El Clasico against Barcelona next weekend, due to a muscular injury.

And Real Madrid confirmed earlier today that Bale has not linked up with the squad to fly to England later today ahead of tomorrow evening's match.

Bale has been in fine form for Los Blancos this season, scoring four goals in seven La Liga appearances and his absence is a blow.

Real Madrid are leading their Champions League Group E on six points with Liverpool in third on three points.
