Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has labelled his side’s 7-1 triumph over Roma in the Champions League last night an “accident.”

The German champions ran riot at the Stadio Olimpico and raced to a 5-0 lead by the 36th minute, courtesy of Arjen Robben’s brace and goals apiece from Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller.

Roma were an improved side after the break and scored through Gervinho in the 66th minute, but Bayern Munich’s substitutes Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri rounded off the scoring to script a memorable win for the Bavarians.

However Guardiola, who still feels Roma are a “dangerous” team, believes the Italian outfit will produce a better display when they face his side in the return fixture at the Allianz Arena next month.

“If you let them play, Roma are very dangerous”, the Spaniard explained to UEFA’s official site.

“We will play against Roma in two weeks and it will be a different game: today [Tuesday] is like an accident.

“The result is not a measure of the difference in quality between us and them.”

Bayern Munich are currently five points clear at the top of Group E with nine points from three games.
