Brendan Rodgers insists that any action Liverpool take against Mario Balotelli for his actions during last night's Champions League clash against Real Madrid will remain internal.

At half-time Balotelli swapped his shirt with Real Madrid defender Pepe, heading off the pitch for the break, with Liverpool 3-0 down.

The Italian was replaced by Adam Lallana for the second period and Rodgers, when told about Balotelli swapping shirts before the game was over, was not happy post-match.

He suggested he would "deal" with Balotelli, but today when questioned in a press conference, insisted any action would only take place behind closed doors and will not be publicised.

"Any action would be kept within ourselves", Rodgers said.

The Northern Irishman was also asked what he had told Balotelli.

"Simple. It was just a conversation on the culture in this country and his part at Liverpool.

"And that was it, matter closed", Rodgers added.

Balotelli has seen his performances hugely criticised since he arrived at Liverpool this summer from AC Milan, with only one goal to his name so far for the Reds.
