Harry Kane says he is not surprised to see Tottenham Hotspur team-mate Erik Lamela score a spectacular goal against Asteras Tripolis tonight, explaining the Argentine does it all the time in training.

The Europa League match at White Hart Lane was 1-0, with Kane having scored after 13 minutes, when the ball came to Lamela just outside the penalty area.

The winger adjusted his feet and curled the ball home with his backstanding leg in a type of Cruyff turn shot known as a rabona, leaving the crowd stunned and Tottenham 2-0 ahead on the half-hour mark.

Kane, who went on to score his hat-trick in the win with Lamela grabbing a second, while also ending up in goal at the death when Hugo Lloris was sent off, claims he was not surprised to see it.

"I have seen Erik Lamela do that in training – he has that in his locker", he told ITV.

"It's great for him to do them in the big games. I need to keep doing what I'm doing, and when I get a chance score goals", the striker added, reflecting on his own display.

And Kane was also pleased to see Spurs run out 5-1 winners on the night.

"We want to kill off teams, and so five goals is great. I like sniffing in and around the box, seeking rebounds. Goals in and around the box are crucial."
