Leeds United manager Darko Milanic has revealed that Brian Montenegro is very much pushing for a first team spot at Elland Road.

Montenegro, who arrived on loan over the summer, is under consideration along with Billy Sharp and Steve Morison to replace the suspended Souleymane Doukara against Wolverhampton Wanderers tomorrow.

Milanic says he has been impressed with the effort that Montenegro is putting in, but has told the Paraguayan that when he is handed a chance he must take it.

"Yes, yes [he’s close to being involved]", Milanic told LUTV.

"He trains hard, well and everything is new for him, but it is important for him that he is with us, he trains with us and that when I give him a chance he takes this chance."

The Slovenian boss is also of the opinion that the 21-year-old can bring something "different" to the Leeds attack.

"He's different, he's not like Doukara, like [Mirco] Antenucci, he's different."

Montenegro has tasted English football before, spending time on loan at West Ham in the 2011/12 campaign.
