Leeds United have confirmed that they have sacked Darko Milanic following today's defeat against Wolves.

Milanic succeeded David Hockaday last month, but has struggled to guide the Whites to success in the Championship and has not won any of his six games in charge.

The Slovenian's side suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves today, despite scoring first and leading at half-time. And the club have acted quickly, removing the former Sturm Graz coach from his post despite his tenture still being in its infancy.

Leeds announced: "Leeds United can confirm that Darko Milanic has parted company with the club."

The Whites have handed the reins to Neil Redfearn, the academy chief, on a caretaker basis, confirming he will take training next week.

"Neil Redfearn will take charge of first team training on Monday morning."

Redfearn bossed Leeds when David Hockaday was sacked earlier this season and made way for Milanic.

Leeds owner and president Massimo Cellino commented: "I want to apologise to the supporters, they deserve better results."
