Leeds United midfielder Lewis Cook talked up Darko Milanic just minutes before club owner Massimo Cellino sacked the Slovenian as manager.

Milanic saw Leeds suffer a 2-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship yesterday, meaning he had a record of three draws and three defeats in his six games in charge.

That was too much for Cellino to take and the Italian pulled the trigger despite Milanic having only been at the club for 32 days and being completely new to English football.

Cook spoke after the defeat and before the news Milanic had been sacked filtered through.

And the young midfielder praised the then-manager, who led NK Maribor to four Slovenian league titles and also worked in the Champions League.

Cook told LUTV: "Yes, we're right behind him, 100 per cent.

"He's a great coach, he's got good training and good ideas which we understand as a team."

And Cook's view on what Leeds need to improve after twice throwing away leads to lose games under Milanic is clear.

"It's just game management really", the midfielder added.
