PSV Eindhoven turned down a bid of €20m for winger Memphis Depay just after the World Cup, the club have confirmed.

Depay saw his stock rapidly rise following a successful season at PSV last year, while he then followed that up by shining on the world stage in Brazil, instantly seeing a number of clubs linked with making a move for his services.

At the presentation of their annual results earlier today, PSV director Toon Gerbrands confirmed a bid had arrived, according to reports from the Netherlands, but was rejected. The director did not specify the club which made the offer.

Depay is known to have a number of Premier League admirers, including Manchester United, whose boss Louis van Gaal coached him at international level, and Tottenham Hotspur.

PSV however remain determined to keep hold of their young winger.

The Dutch giants even dipped into their budget for another winger in order to offer Depay a vastly improved new contract, which he duly signed this summer.
