Mario Mandzukic has slammed Pep Guardiola for his treatment of him at Bayern Munich last term.

The Croatian international top scored for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga last season, hitting 18 goals as the Bavarians ran away with the title.

But his relationship with Guardiola was strained and reached breaking point when the former Barcelona coach left him out of the squad for the German Cup final.

Mandzukic sealed an exit from the Allianz Arena this summer, joining Atletico Madrid, and does not have fond memories of working under Guardiola.

"Guardiola treated me badly. He treated me with no respect and did not allow me to become the top scorer in the Bundesliga. Everything was twice as good under Juup Heynckes and that's not just my opinion", he told Sportske Novosti.

"I did not deserve to be treated like that after I had given everything for Bayern for two seasons.

"I think things changed when he arrived. I realised there was no future for me at Bayern and I decided to leave", Mandzukic added.
