Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta has called on his side to be consistent after their 2-0 triumph over Sunderland at the weekend.

The Gunners, who defeated the Black Cats, courtesy of an Alexis Sanchez brace, have endured a stop-start beginning to the 2014/15 campaign.

Arsenal presently find themselves fifth in the Premier League with 14 points from nine games, nine adrift of leaders Chelsea, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester United on Sunday.

And Arteta, who is aware that Manchester City and Liverpool also dropped points over the weekend, underlined the importance of accumulating points on a regular basis owing to the difficulty of the Premier League.

“We need to be consistent now and get the points because you know how difficult it is”, the Spaniard explained to the club’s official site.

“You look at Manchester City dropping points, you look at Liverpool dropping points and that tells you how difficult this league has become.”

Arsenal will next face Burnley, who are currently rock-bottom in the Premier League, at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
