Dejan Lovren has insisted that he is confident about Liverpool churning out positive results in their upcoming games, following their 2-1 win over Swansea City in the League Cup last night.

The Reds, who came into the game on the back of a goalless draw with Hull City at the weekend, needed late goals from Mario Balotelli and Lovren to win the contest after the Swans took a 65th-minute lead through Marvin Emnes at Anfield.

And Lovren lauded Liverpool’s display against the Welsh club, but insisted that his side returned to form versus the Tigers, despite the Merseyside giants’ failure to find the back of the net on Saturday.

"We showed our quality and we had plenty of the ball. It was a great game for us”, the defender explained to his club’s official site.

"I think we showed in the last game against Hull – I know we didn't score – but I think we played much, much better than in the previous two games against Real Madrid and Queens Park Rangers.

“We showed our character and our real style. And I'm confident now; I'm confident for the next few games."

Liverpool, who are currently seventh in the Premier League with 14 points from nine outings, will next face 14th-placed Newcastle United in an away fixture on Saturday.
