Chelsea defensive starlet Andreas Christensen has revealed Jose Mourinho let him know he would be starting against Shrewsbury Town last night on Sunday, at the match against Manchester United.

The highly rated 18-year-old has been eager to make his senior debut for the Blues and was handed the opportunity at the New Meadow against Shrewsbury in a 2-1 League Cup win for Chelsea.

Christensen admits Mourinho gave him time to prepare for the experience, also informing him he would operate at right-back, a change from his preferred role as centre-back.

"At the Man United game, after the game he told me I would be starting at right-back", the Dane told Chelsea TV.

"So I had some time to prepare myself, which was good.

"I've played at right-back before, but it's been quite a while since I did that so I just tried to look at my clips and see what I did and then do it again."

Christensen also revealed that playing the full 90 minutes against Shrewsbury took its toll on him, though he has no complaints at being put through the grinder.

"I got cramp with ten minutes left and had to fight through it, but it was good", the defender added.
