Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp was pleased with his side’s first half display in their 3-0 win over St. Pauli in the DFB Pokal last night.

BVB, who have endured a disappointing domestic campaign thus far, took a 33rd minute lead through Ciro Immobile before Marco Reus doubled his side’s advantage on the brink of half-time.

Although summer signing Shinji Kagawa rounded off the scoring in the 86th minute at the Millerntor-Stadion, Dortmund’s tempo dropped after the break.

And Klopp, who praised Dortmund’s first half performance against St. Pauli, was however displeased with his side’s display in the final 45 minutes.

“With the result and the first half, which was really good, I’m very happy”, he explained to the club’s official site.

“With the second half, I cannot be happy. We didn’t do everything right, but we were clearly dominant.

“We approached the game properly and had to work hard for certain things.

“We lacked composure in the second half, didn’t play enough football. That wasn’t so good, we can do better, but the win was a step in the right direction.”

Dortmund, who are currently 15th in the Bundesliga with seven points from nine fixtures, just a point and a place ahead of the relegation zone, will next face champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
