Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes his side have a realistic shot at winning the League Cup after they booked a quarter-final spot this evening.

The Argentine watched his side bounce back from defeat to Newcastle at the weekend by putting Brighton to the sword at White Hart Lane, with goals from Erik Lamela (54th minute) and Harry Kane (75th minute) doing the job.

Spurs' reward for their win is a quarter-final match against Newcastle at White Hart Lane and Pochettino feels believing in winning the tournament is not living in cloud cuckoo land.

"All competitions that we are in, our objective is to try to win and why not?", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"I'm happy for the team. Always it's difficult to play after a defeat and we need to improve our concentration but always it's my responsibility in this aspect.

"All the players played well and the team deserved the victory. It always lifts confidence and trust and the objective is done."

The Argentine, who has led Tottenham to a lacklustre start to the campaign, also insisted he is not worried about losing his job, feeling pressure is par for the course for a manager, meaning he can block it out.

"I never feel the pressure, I understand my job and my position. Like any manager, positive results mean you are a very good manager, you lose and you are very bad, but I have the balance in my life."
