Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is considering following his former Gunners team-mate Robert Pires to India to take part in the Indian Super League.

The ISL, the brainchild of the All India Football Federation and their commercial partner IMG Reliance, started earlier this month with eight franchises participating in its first season.

The Indian fans have taken to the new league and have turned out in large numbers to see the local players mixing with former world stars.

Henry, who has played in France, Italy, Spain and the United States, is not averse to the idea of playing in the new league in India, according to L’Equipe.

The ISL has already attracted former French internationals such as Pires, David Trezeguet and Nicolas Anelka and the addition of Henry would be another feather in the cap of the fledgling league.

But if Henry decides to play in the ISL, it could only happen next year as the first season is already under way.

Henry earned 123 international caps for France and is his country’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals. His contract with New York Red Bulls ends this year and the MLS side have already indicated it will not be renewed.
