Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic believes that his team need to buckle up and try to adopt a more determined approach in order to improve.

The defending champions were knocked out of the League Cup yesterday after they lost 2-0 to Newcastle United in the fourth round.

The League Cup loss comes days after the Citizens lost 2-1 to West Ham away from home in the Premier League, thus going down to third place in the league table.

And as the team prepare to take on arch-rivals Manchester United next on Sunday, the 24-year-old is keen on rectifying the mistakes and being more determined in their approach.

"We need to be more determined and we need to score goals, because we are a team that scores more goals than everybody and when we don't score we have problems", Jovetic was quoted as saying by ITV.

"It happened last night. I hope the next game we will score again.

"We won this cup last year and we wanted to win it again.

"Unfortunately we didn't make it but now we must forget, recover well and think about the next game."

Their opponents on Sunday are a team that have problems of their own and are currently desperate to return to winning ways after two consecutive draws, against West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea respectively.
