Indian Super League side FC Pune City have signed former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant.

Pennant will replace Omar Andres Rodriguez Martinez, after the Colombian pulled out of the tournament due to a kidney problem.

The former England Under-21 international was released by Stoke City this summer and was on the lookout for a new club for this season.

A product of Notts County’s youth academy, Pennant has played for the likes of Arsenal, Birmingham City, Liverpool and Real Zaragoza.

He also played in a Champions League final with Liverpool in 2007 and has a couple of Community Shield winners’ medal in his locker.
