Laurent Blanc has insisted that it took a great performance from Paris Saint-German to beat Marseille last night.

Goals from Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani helped the Parisians to overcome league leaders Marseille 2-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Marseille maintain their position at the top of the table, but PSG have cut down their lead to only one point after 13 league fixtures.

Blanc is delighted with the result and said that PSG had to lift their game to produce a special performance against the league leaders last night in Paris.

"Of course, this victory over Marseille has a special taste”, the Frenchman told the club’s official site

“Marseille are an excellent team and it took a great Paris to beat then tonight. The first 25 minutes were very tough, but after, we were obliged to lift our game.”

The PSG manager congratulated his players but stressed that they need to produce such performances week-in-week-out to maintain the pressure on Marseille.

“Congratulations to the players, we'd love to play matches like this every week."

After the international break PSG will take on newly-promoted side Metz away from home on 21st November.
