Netherlands legend Johan Cruyff has hit out at Mario Balotelli's attitude and stated his belief that the striker has not been educated well.

Balotelli has consistently courted controversy on and off the pitch and is at present under the microscope at Premier League club Liverpool, where he has yet to score a league goal for the Reds following his arrival in the summer.

The Italian has often looked disinterested throughout games and has drawn criticism from Reds fans and club legend Jamie Carragher.

And Cruyff feels with the Italy international the problem is one of education.

Speaking on Rai Sport, Cruyff said: "Balotelli? The problem is one of education.

"If they had educated him well then he would not be what he is today."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho dubbed Balotelli "unmanageable" during his time as Inter boss, while Roberto Mancini lost patience with the striker at Manchester City and offloaded him to AC Milan.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers however gambled on Balotelli this summer, splashing £16m to sign the hitman in the hopes he would replace the goals lost by the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
