Germany midfielder Christoph Kramer admits that he admires Manchester United and Real Madrid and has revealed they were two of his favourite clubs growing up.

Kramer, who is on loan to Borussia Monchengladbach from Bayer Leverkusen this season, was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier this week.

It was claimed that Los Blancos wanted him at Santiago Bernabeu as a potential replacement for Arsenal target Sami Khedira, having been impressed with his performances in the Bundesliga.

But Khedira said yesterday that he is not willing to leave the club and Kramer’s agent also squashed any speculation by saying that Real Madrid is not an option for his client.

Kramer admits that he is flattered by the interest from the European champions, but said that he is only focusing on improving his game.

“As a kid I admired Manchester United and Real Madrid.”
