Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantekyie has revealed that former Chelsea boss Avram Grant is set to become their new national coach after their final 2015 Nations Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

The African nation, who were knocked out of the group stages of the 2014 World Cup, have been without a permanent coach since the departure of Kwesi Appiah in September, with Maxwell Konadu guiding the team on a temporary basis.

And Nyantekyie insisted that the GFA are confident about wrapping up a deal with Grant after Ghana’s clash with Togo on Wednesday.

"By the time we finish with our game against Togo, we should have an agreement in place", he told the BBC.

Nyantekyie further added that the GFA are positive about Grant, who will be given a two-year contract, succeeding in his new role.

"He is a motivator. He has the capacity and skill to manage egos and top players and these are some of the challenges that the Black Stars team is going through”, he added.

"He has the strength, he has a strong mentality. He feels in Africa most of the players lack the passion or the mentality even though they have the skill.

“We hope he will be able to instill these qualities so that we will win trophies."

Grant, who has experience of managing a host of clubs including Chelsea, West Ham United and Portsmouth, was also in charge of the Israeli national team between 2002 and 2006.
