Everton chairman Bill Kenwright is not averse to the idea of Wayne Rooney coming back to the club in the future.

A childhood Everton fan, Rooney burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old forward at the club in 2002.

But after some scintillating performances for England in Euro 2004 in Portugal, the forward left Everton to join Manchester United in the summer.

The separation came under acrimonious circumstances and the Everton fans were angered by the way Rooney pushed for the move.

But it has been a decade since Rooney left the Toffees and Kenwright said that if the player wants to come back to his roots he is always welcome.
