Former Inter Milan owner Massimo Moratti feels that former manager Walter Mazzarri was unpopular among the fans.

Inter sacked Mazzarri after a string of poor results and appointed Roberto Mancini as his replacement last Friday.

Inter were inconsistent under Mazzarri this season and the fans were also very vocal about their disapproval of the club’s style of football under their former manager.

Mazzarri was jeered at the San Siro towards the end of his reign and the Inter hierarchy did notice his unpopularity among the fans.

And Moratti, who was until last month Inter’s honorary president, said that he has seen very few managers who were as unpopular as Mazzarri was at Inter.

He also added that the Italian’s body language and general demeanour also failed to inspire confidence among the supporters.

“I have never seen as unpopular a coach among the fans as Mazzarri”, Moratti told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“He was good person but his body language didn’t help.

"He always looked apprehensive and threatened.”
