Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer says it was no accident that his side took advantage of a defensive mix-up from Leeds United today.

Bowyer's men won the Championship match 2-1, but were forced to come from behind at Ewood Park after Souleymane Doukara put the visitors ahead in the 33rd minute.

The breakthrough for Blackburn came in the 71st minute, when a mix-up between Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri and defender Liam Cooper handed Jordan Rhodes the chance to score, and he duly completed a simple finish.

Blackburn then scored a second from the penalty spot in the 87th minute to secure all three points.

Leeds manager Neil Redfearn bemoaned the mix-up post-match, telling his defence to grow up, after witnessing a similar mix-up cost them against Cardiff this season.

And Bowyer says his side took note of the Cardiff incident and he specifically instructed them to be aware of the likelihood Leeds would do the same thing again.

"Full credit to Jordan, he kept going chasing that lost cause, but it wasn't a fluke because we saw their goalkeeper do that against Cardiff", Bowyer told his club's site.

"We prepared properly and we showed them so they knew to chase lost causes."

Bowyer also saluted Rhodes, who also scored from the penalty spot, for the mental strength he showed.

"Then as soon as it was a penalty there was no way anyone was going to take it off him. The mental strength from him was phenomenal."
