Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana believes it would be "remarkable" if last season's runners-up were able to finish in the Premier League's top four this season.

The Reds came within a whisker of winning the Premier League title last term and Lallana was one of a number of new arrivals over the summer as over £100m was spent on fresh faces.

Brendan Rodgers' men have struggled to hit the same heights this term and currently find themselves eleventh in the table with 14 points from eleven games.

"I still think we can finish in the top four and that would be a remarkable achievement, considering we've been in the Champions League", Lallana explained to the BBC.

However, the midfielder first wants Liverpool to end a run of three consecutive defeats, to Newcastle, Real Madrid and Chelsea, by beating Crystal Palace tomorrow.

"But we don't want to look that far at the minute, we want to get back to winning ways and I think with the game at the weekend against Palace it's a great chance for us to get three points and start a run", Lallana added.

Liverpool spent around £25m to sign Lallana from Southampton in the summer.
