Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany has saluted his side's hard-fought 2-1 win over Swansea City at the Etihad Stadium today.

The hosts were shocked in just the ninth minute of the match as Swansea striker Wilfried Bony celebrated signing a new contract with the club in style by finding the back of the net.

But Manchester City did quickly level, needing just ten minutes for Stevan Jovetic to make it 1-1.

The Citizens then rallied and secured the all important breakthrough through Yaya Toure just after the hour mark.

And Manchester City, who dominated possession and shots at goal, closed out the match to claim a vital win.

"Given the last month we will take a win and it is good we are creating chances again", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"We have given ourselves a challenge but football is made of challenges.

"We can get a lot of good out of this year", he added.
