Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he takes full responsibility for his team's 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace today, their sixth loss in just 12 Premier League games this season.

Rodgers could have been forgiven for thinking Liverpool were in for a good afternoon after Rickie Lambert scored with just two minutes on the clock.

But it soon became clear that Liverpool's defence were not comfortable and regularly struggled to contain Crystal Palace's pacy attack.

And Palace did draw level through Dwight Gayle in the 17th minute.

The sides went in level at half-time, 1-1, but Palace stepped it up in the second half and began to hit Liverpool on the break, eventually getting their reward when Joe Ledley scored in the 78th minute.

Mile Jedinak then struck just three minutes later, giving Liverpool a mountain they could not climb and the Reds went down to their fourth consecutive defeat.

Rodgers accepts Liverpool have no one to blame but themselves and has accepted responsibility for the loss.

"We've got no one to blame", he told Sky Sports.

"We are low on confidence in terms of results and the intensity and tempo of our game has dropped off.

"And we concede poor goals and as the manager I take full responsibility for that.

"We aim to be tighter and more resolute defensively."
