Adam Lallana has backed his Liverpool team-mate Rickie Lambert to add more goals to his tally after the striker netted in his side’s 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace yesterday.

Lambert, who joined the Reds from Southampton in the summer, along with Lallana, scored his first Liverpool goal in the defeat at Selhurst Park.

The 32-year-old has been mainly used as a substitute by manager Brendan Rodgers, but the forward started for Liverpool against the Eagles, owing to injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli.

And Lallana, who felt Lambert was a bright spot for Liverpool in an otherwise dull display against Crystal Palace, feels his English compatriot will score more goals for the Merseyside giants.

"The big man has worked so hard", Lallana told the club’s official site.

"Considering he has not had too much game time, it's always difficult when you're a striker – when you don't score, you don't get that confidence.

"But I thought he was probably one of the only positives and he looked great. Hopefully there will be more goals to come.

"Every player wants to get off the mark when you join a new club. I think there's only going to be good things to come from Rickie."

Lambert, whose contract with Liverpool runs until 2016, has thus far made 13 appearances in all competitions for the club.
