Martin Demichelis has insisted that Manchester City will try to take inspiration from last season’s result against Bayern Munich tomorrow.

Manchester City are bottom of Group E on two points and must beat the German champions at the Etihad to keep their hopes of qualifying for the first knockout round of the Champions League alive.

It has been another disappointing European campaign for the Citizens and they are yet to win a game in the competition this season leaving them with a mountain to climb to qualify for the last 16.

Demichelis admits that Manchester City have flattered to deceive in Europe this term, but they are looking back to last season to find inspiration for tomorrow’s tough encounter against the Bavarians.

Though they were beaten at home by the Bavarians, Manchester City pulled off a shock 3-2 win at the Allianz Arena last year.

“We are aware tomorrow will be a tough game against the best team in the Champions League.

"But we need to look at the result we got against them last year."
