Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta admits that the club are concerned about Thomas Vermaelen’s injury status.
The defender switched to Barcelona from Arsenal this summer, but is yet to make a first team appearance for the club this season.
The Belgian has suffered from various different injuries and the club are still not sure when he will completely recover from his injury troubles.
He is currently suffering from an injury in his right thigh and Zubizarreta admits that the Catalan giants are concerned about the crocked defender.
“We do not know whether Vermaelen will need an operation”, the Barcelona sporting director was quoted as saying by A Bola.

“We are concerned and the medical team are closely evaluating his problems.”
Vermaelen also suffered from injury troubles during his time at Arsenal, which in part led to him losing his place to Per Mertesacker at the club.
