Chelsea defender John Terry believes that the current side could be the club's best ever, after they took Schalke apart to win 5-0 in the Champions League in Germany.

Blues skipper Terry quickly put the visitors ahead in Germany when he scored in just the 2nd minute.

Brazilian midfielder Willian then doubled Chelsea's advantage, while a Jan Kirchoff own goal put the Blues 3-0 ahead before half time.

Didier Drogba (76th minute) and Ramires (78th minute) put Chelsea 5-0 ahead.

And that was how it ended as the Blues booked a last 16 spot in style, also winning the group.

For Terry, these are exciting times for Chelsea, with the current crop having the potential to go on and become the club's best ever team.

"We hope so", he told Sky Sports when asked if the current team can be Chelsea's best.

"There's still an awful long way to go, so we're not getting carried away, but we're getting stronger game by game."

Terry also saluted the club's attacking players for helping the defence to keep things tight.

"The forward play is excellent, but they put a shift in defending as well.

"It's not just the back four and the goalkeeper, it's the whole team."
