Juventus are willing to wait in their quest to sign FC Basel’s Swiss international defender Fabian Schar.

The 22-year-old’s contract with the Swiss outfit is set to expire next summer and there are no indications that he is willing to sign a new deal.

An exit for Schar from Basel seems imminent and the player also indicated last week that Juventus are an option for him when he eventually decides to move.

But the Bianconeri are not willing to pay the €10m fee that Basel are asking for the defender in January, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian champions are willing to wait until the winter transfer window closes, when Schar will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club for a move at the end of the season.

But Juventus are also wary of Arsenal’s threat, with the Gunners desperate to sign a defender in January, and they were interested in Schar in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether Arsene Wenger reignites his interest in the defender to complicate matters for the Bianconeri.
