Andre Schurrle feels Chelsea “can go very far” in the Champions League if his side put in similar performances to that produced in their 5-0 rout of Schalke last night.
The Blues, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Schalke in the corresponding fixture at Stamford Bridge in September, raced to a 2-0 lead by the 29th minute, courtesy of goals from John Terry and Willian, before Jan Kirchhoff put the ball inside his own net on the brink of half-time.
Further goals from Didier Drogba and Ramires at the Veltins-Arena after the break sealed the deal for Chelsea as they booked their place in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
And Schurrle, who came on as a 78th minute substitute in the contest, was pleased with his side’s dominant display against the German outfit.
“I think we did pretty well”, he told UEFA’s official site.

“We scored very early on and I think that unsettled Schalke. After that the fans were a bit on edge.
“We were a tad fortunate when they hit the bar but after that we were in control of the game.
“If we can keep up this kind of form we can go very far in the competition.”
